Daniel Keith

My Great, Great Grandfather Daniel Keith is buried in Edmonson Co. KY in the Keith-Howard Cemetery located in the Cedar Spring community. His stone marks my earliest introductions to my ancestry. Daniel's father William "Billy" Keith was the first of this line to be born in Kentucky the year 1816. William's father Daniel was born in Floyd County, Virginia from where he moved to Kentucky around 1810.

This is one of the earliest surviving photos of my grandparents. Three children and expecting a fourth, living in a tent located at Kyrock Asphalt Plant, Edmonson County, KY . Work was scarce for a young family in Edmonson County, Kentucky. Two boarders also lived with them in the tent. This photo was taken in 1920-1 (Est. from birth date of smallest child). Appears to be a hard life with the Great Depression lurking.

The entire Keith Clan, 11 children surviving. Another was lost in infancy and was rarely spoken of.
The youngest child in this photo was born in 1942. Surviving the Great Depression and entering World War II, times were hard.
